Things that have made me happy this week...
Ed Sheeran tickets
I managed to nab some tickets to see Ed Sheeran in July 2015, thanks to o2 priority! Yippeeeeee! I was sat in the doctors waiting room, constantly refreshing my little iphone on a crappy 3G signal, desperately trying to get some tickets... and mission successful! I can't wait already, I love Ed.
Southbank Christmas Markets
We went to visit my dad at work this week at The National Theatre at Waterloo so whilst we were there we decided to wander along the Southbank and visit the Christmas Markets. Little wooden huts have been placed along the Thames path near Waterloo to create a German-market type feel, each hut selling different foods, drinks, crafts, gifts and confectionary. I was looking forward to wrapping up warm and enjoying mulled wine whilst browsing all the different pop-up shops. I've got to say I wasn't as impressed as previous years, it was a little disappointing, it didn't feel like there was much there on offer and I don't think the space has been utilised well at all. It doesn't feel like your traditional cosy Christmas Market and there wasn't much of a vibe going on, maybe because it was midday on a Wednesday, I don't know. We walked around the area within about ten minutes and both said 'is that it?!' simultaneously. Never the less, we did enjoy some mulled wine and the Southbank is just a lovely place to be anyway so we had a nice wander. I love meandering along the Thames. There are lots of festive trees and lights lit up too and a large Rekorderlig cider tent!
{You can find more info on the Southbank Christmas Markets here - they're open until January 4th}
More Christmas lights!
The Christmas Lights were switched on in Greenwich Market this week, so we wandered down to watch the countdown. It was full of mums and their children but a very happy atmosphere none the less. Attending a local light switch on is always a nice thing to do in the run-up to Christmas, I always used to go to the one back home when I was younger. We enjoyed some drinks at Jamie's Italian beforehand, I had this amazing prosecco cocktail, mmm.
I adore Greenwich at Christmas time. It makes me fall in love with the place all over again, it's so pretty. The market looks brilliant all lit up!
I'm at uni again today, for the final day of my module, so I think we'll probably have lunch and a cocktail afterwards to celebrate! This evening will be a cosy one at home I think, I'm so tired after another busy week at work. Tomorrow I'm going to put the Christmas tree up!! Eeeeek! I can't decide whether or not to decorate it tomorrow or wait until Monday when it's officially December, but with our shifts we're both so busy so I think tomorrow may be better. I'm so excited to get the flat looking all festive!! I love this time of year.
And then I just have two nightshifts to go until my long awaited week of annual leave. Come Monday morning I shall be a free woman for a week! Next week I'm off to Oxfordshire to visit my bestie followed by a trip down to Bath and Bristol to see my sister and do some Christmas shopping. Then I've got other random things planned - dinner with friends, some running and lots more blogging.
26 days until Christmas!!!
Love, Lydia xxx
