The Christmas tree is up, the Christmas tree is up, the Christmas tree is up!!! It's official! Isn't it beautiful?! Ahhhhhh!
We don't usually put our tree up until strictly December 1st and to be honest I feel slightly strange about having it up a few days early, people have already said to me "it's only November!!!" as if I'm some crazy woman but anyone who knows me well knows how much I love Christmas. Mine and Rob's work schedules are all over the place over the next few weeks and I'm away visiting friends and family for part of this week so we decided to spend some time together last night and put the tree up together.
I'm definitely a big fan of real trees, my parents have had a real tree every single year for as long as I can remember, I don't think my dad could bare having a fake one. But whilst Rob and I live in a third floor modern apartment in London we've decided to stick with a less hassle, artificial tree and save the real tree for when we (finally!) buy a house. We bought this tree last year from Tesco for a bargain of... {wait for it}... £15!!! Can you believe it?! I didn't want to spend much on something we'd only use for a couple of years and actually we've been very impressed with it. It's exactly what we need. It's really easy to assemble and looks as good as new this year.
It seems I have a slight obsession with Christmas tree decorations, I
spent a bit too much money on them this year... whoops! So I thought I'd share with you
some of my recent purchases...
Silver bell heart and star decorations, £3.50 each at Waitrose
Silver heart decorations, £2.99 each at The Christmas Shop
Silver reindeer decorations, £2.50 each also from The Christmas Shop
Mercurised silver vintage baubles, £1.95 each at dotcomgiftshop on Ebay
Mercurised silver glass droplets, £3.00 at John Lewis (link not found)
Pack of 4 red and white decoupage baubles, £5 at Waitrose (link not found)
If you get anywhere near as excited as I do then maybe you lay out all the pretty decorations and baubles somewhere where you can look at them first?! Or is it only me who does that?! Yep probably just me! I love sorting through them and deciding which ones to use. I originally wanted to have an 'all-silver' theme but I fell in love with these red and white decoupage baubles in Waitrose, they're all different with cute designs of hearts, little buildings, swirls and flowers. So the colour theme changed to silver and red...
I laid them all of the decorations out on the kitchen surface, we put on some music, enjoyed a glass of wine and got decorating...
Enjoy our cheesy video with a bit of Michael Buble!!
I think this is our prettiest tree yet, I love it! It makes the living room feel so cosy and magical. I still can't believe it's this time of year already but it makes me so happy! Christmas can finally begin...! Over the next few weeks I'll be sure to share with you some of the other decorations we've got around our home and a few of the festive traditions and adventures we've got planned.
I hope you're all having a lovely Saturday!
Lydia xxx
