Things that have made me happy this week...
Mulled wine
I love a glass of mulled wine at this time of year. Especially on cold days like these as it's so warming. The smell of it is just so delicious and festive and it's a true sign that Christmas is just around the corner. Yesterday Rob and I enjoyed lunch and some mulled wine in one of our favourite local pubs, The Gypsy Moth. It's such a cosy pub and has been adorned with decorations and lit up with Christmas lights, the perfect place to relax during the afternoon.
Christmas Shopping = FINITO!
Yep, that's right, I've set a personal record! It's 5th December and I have officially finished the Christmas shopping! I am feeling oh so organised this year which makes a change from previous years where I have been known to have taken emergency last minute shopping sprees on Christmas Eve to get things finished!! My shift pattern this year leaves little time to get anything done last minute so I've made sure that I am all sorted in good time. It feels good! Still waiting for a few things to arrive in the post but other than that everything is all wrapped...
Dont you just love a good wrapping session?! Pop on some good music (or even better, a Christmas film!) and wrap away... love it. I found some really cute patterned brown Kraft paper to use this year along with some more colourful red and white patterned paper. Then I added red and brown ribbons to fancy things up a bit too. All the presents are now under the tree!! How exciting!
Beautiful London skies...
If you've read a few of my blog posts or seen my instagram then you'll probably have realised by now that I love a good sunset. The sky is so powerful, it's amazing how it can change my whole mood. This afternoon's sky was so pretty.
I've been on my annual leave this week! Such a good feeling, it's so nice to be away from the chaos of work and have some time dedicated to myself. I've spent half of this week away from London - I escaped to Oxford, Bicester, Bath and Bristol visiting my friend Jess and my sister, which was so much fun! There was a lot of travelling involved but it felt like a proper little minibreak! Much needed. I got back yesterday so since then I've just been unpacking, catching up with boring chores, writing and sending my Christmas cards and spending time with Rob.
This evening I'm off to dinner with some friends which will be nice, a glass of vino is definitely calling my name! Tomorrow Rob and I are off for a Christmassy adventure which I shall blog about later and on Sunday we're driving down to Surrey to see our friends Emma and Matt for an early Christmas lunch, with all the trimmings! I can't wait, you can't beat a good old roast dinner with friends.
Other than that I'm just enjoying every little minute of my annual leave, it's so nice to be able to relax and get sorted for Christmas before a few more weeks of busy shifts!
Have a good weekend!
Lydia xxx
