Decking the ...flat!

So I promised I'd share a few more of the things we've done around the home to make it feel just that little bit more Christmassy! Rob's a bit of a Grinch when it comes to Christmas decorations and I've got to admit I'm not a fan of anything majorly tacky so there are definitely no large reindeers around here, nor is there any tinsel which I cannot stand! We've stuck to rather simple decorations but I have to say our flat is looking quite cute and festive! It's nice to have little decorations here and there to brighten things up...

This cute little Christmas tree fell into my shopping trolley in Waitrose... oh my goodness how cute is it?! A perfect sized tree for the hallway!

You've gotta have a garland...! Thank you Waitrose, you never let me down. This red and white 'Merry Christmas' garland adds a bit of festive cheer to the living room without being overly loud.

...And I couldn't leave the bedroom bare, could I?! I bought this garland last year, from Waitrose too actually. Do you see a trend?! Waitrose is dangerous!!

I love creating small festive displays around the flat. I bought this large silver plate in Ikea when I was doing the big exciting 'uni shop' before for my first year at university, which feels like a lifetime ago!! It's come in handy this year though and is now home to some pretty mercurised silver vintage-looking baubles and star-shaped tea light holders. It's so easy (and cheap!) to create small displays like these and they look really pretty at night time when the lights are off and all the candles are lit.

Obligatory stockings hanging on doors...

You can't go wrong with simple silver baubles hanging off picture frames...
(oh and Lindt bears, mmmmm!)

Colour-coordinating candles and baubles...

I have absolutely no idea how the owl is in any way Christmassy but when I saw these two cuties I just had to have them.

So there we go... nothing amazing but just a few little touches to 'Christmas up' the flat! What have you done to your home for the festive season? I love Instagram (and just the internet in general!) at this time of year, I love being nosey and seeing how people have decorated their Christmas trees and their homes.
Maybe next year we'll have a house to decorate!!! Now there's an exciting thought!
