This week's happiness

Things that have made me happy this week...

A little holiday to Rome...
Do you ever find yourself with the sudden urge to book a hotel or some flights? The urge to just get away for a few days and explore some more of the world? Well, this happened this week. I think it was the idea of going back to work after having such a relaxing week off last week... It made me pine for a holiday. I wanted something on the horizon, something to really look forward to. I lay in bed browsing flights and found a good deal for some return flights to Rome, so we're all booked up! We're going in May over our anniversary. I already cannot wait. I've been a few times now as we have a family villa about 2 hours away from Rome, but Rob's never been. In my gap year I interrailed around Europe and Rome was one of my most favourite cities, I was so overwhelmed by all the old architecture and could not seem to get my head around the fact that some of the buildings are older than Jesus!! Whoa! Anyway... bring on May!!

Ben and Jerry's
This made me happy. Mmmmmmmm. Too good!
(If you haven't tried this flavour, go get some, it's delicious)

Mistletoe
So I hung the mistletoe today! Another of my favourite traditions to remind us that Christmas is less than 2 weeks away!! And yep, we've already kissed under it...

Sitting beside the Christmas Tree
Honestly... sitting on the sofa in my pjs, beside the Christmas Tree with all the twinkling fairy lights has got to be one of my most favourite things in the whole wide world. I could never tire of it! It's such a magical time of year, I just wish that it didn't go so fast. I can't believe it's mid December already!

Winter walks...
It's been so cold this week, so so cold! There's even been snow in some parts of the UK. Never the less I had the most lovely walk this morning through Greenwich Park. It's always so peaceful there in the mornings. Winter has really arrived, the trees are looking very bare and a bit bleak but it still made for some good photos.

Yet again I've just finished a row of nightshifts... I'm basically a human owl these days! I had the most lazy day yesterday after work, spent catching up on tv, relaxing in my pjs and doing some baking. Days like these are pretty much my idea of heaven! I'm off work this weekend which always feels like a bit of a treat for us shift workers. Tomorrow will be spent chilling out at home, I think I'm going to have a long lay in and then do some baking before going to my best friend Georgie's flat-warming party in the evening. She's just moved in with her boyfriend Jorge, into a lovely little flat in Chiswick. I haven't managed to visit yet as we've both been so busy, so I'm looking forward to warming the flat and having a nose around! I love visiting friends' houses for the first time! Then on Sunday, Rob and I are going for brunch with my friend Clare and her boyfriend Scott. We're off to Villandry on Great Portland Street... have you been? It's supposed to be really nice, I'll feed back via here or instagram. On Sunday afternoon I've got a bit of uni work to do and no doubt I'll do some blogging... I've got some more festive posts lined up for next week!

Have the best weekend!

  1. Rome for a break sounds amazing. I get constant urges to book flights and get away, not helped by the Secret Escapes emails I get delivered to my work email. More than once I've booked a getaway because I'm sad about being at my desk on a Monday morning. I hope you both enjoy it.
