Once today is over I will have worked five 12 hour shifts in the space of seven days... so this post comes from a rather delicate, exhausted place and you'll have to excuse me if I ramble on and don't make much sense. I thought I'd update you on my week, although as I've just mentioned, most of it has been spent at work so I'm not sure how interesting this will be...
We had the most lovely day last Saturday spent at my parents' house back in Hertfordshire with Rob's mum. I love being back home even if it's just for a day. No matter where I end up living, beautiful Berkhamsted will always be home to me and that excitement of arriving back on home turf is something I hope never goes away. Mum and Dad always make our visits home so special, we enjoyed champagne by the fire before a delicious lunch cooked by my Mumma {who is basically Nigella in disguise} and then just sat around on the sofas talking and talking for hours, catching up. I think my Dad has secretly fallen in love with Rosie, this photo melts my heart a little bit...
We had lunch with some friends last Sunday and went for a walk. Each week it feels more and more like Spring is arriving with new flowers appearing and blue skies although it's still bloody chilly. It's definitely still hot chocolate season. It's been nice to spend lots of time outside though, I've taken Rosie on a couple of long walks through our local countryside and discovered some beautiful new routes which I think will become favourites.
My dissertation is due in just over a month which basically equals panic! I've been cramming in the work in between everything else and can feel my stress levels rising which is never a good sign. I'm one of those people who tends to deal with everything pretty silently but as more things build up and up I reach a point where I just crack and break. I reached that point last night, there were many tears. Thankfully Rob is very patient in those rubbish moments. He's not overly sympathetic though and I'm glad of that, if he didn't tell me to get a grip and cheer up then I'd probably still be in a crying heap on the carpet.
Aaaaanyway... in more exciting news we've booked our next skiing holiday for January '17!! It's a long way off yet and although I'm not one to wish life away I'm already looking forward to being back in the magical mountains and getting back on skis. You can read about our recent ski trip here
I'm hoping that the week ahead is a little less chaotic but with my dissertation to crack on with and a couple of nightshifts thrown in the mix I'm not so sure that will be the case! I'm looking forward to March though, we've got a few dates booked in the diary with good friends and of course Easter is just around the corner... cue copious amounts of mini eggs, Spring flowers and some Easter baking!
Back again soon,
Lydia xxx
